Barbara Tessari is a Certified Employee Benefits Specialist with over 20 years in the employee
benefit industry. She was a consultant for Johnson & Higgins and owned her own boutique
benefits consulting firm, Benefits by Design, Inc. in Wilmington, DE. Barbara is also a Certified
Wellness Coach, Personal Trainer and author who now pursues her passion for helping people
transform their lifestyle behaviors by helping them overcome their obstacles to change and
promoting wellness in the workplace. By combining her knowledge of health care cost
containment, Human Resources, and health promotion, Barbara helps employers incorporate
health and well-being values as part of their corporate culture to reduce insurance costs,
absenteeism and increase productivity and retention. She also provides motivational talks and
on-site lifestyle coaching to employees and is determined to get the best results for her clients
by educating, motivating and empowering people to change their negative lifestyles and
improve the quality of their lives and the quality of their work.

Barbara is also a motivational speaker and author whose lifestyle change philosophy is based
on moderation and balance principles and making better decisions simply because you feel
better and is a happier way to live your life. In early 2000, after overcoming a life long battle
with her own weight, food and negative lifestyle issues, Barbara wrote a book entitled
The
Pizza and Ice Cream Diet
that revealed the myths, lies and deceptions of the food and
dieting industry and helped readers discover the path to true lifestyle change. An eating and
recipe guide titled:
No Excuses, How to Eat, Cook, Live and Lose Weight in the Real
World
followed. Barbara is in the process of publishing another title: Find Your Balance In
An Out of Balance World.

As a Speaker
Barbara's personal talks are realistic, humorous, insightful and relatable. Her motivation is
infectious as she touches her audience and inspires them to change their negative lifestyle
behaviors. On Workplace Wellness, Barbara can speak to HR and business owners to motivate
them to incorporate health and well-being into the workplace. Barbara speaks on various
lifestyle related topics such as: Managing Stress, Just Get Up and Do Something, How to Lose
Weight in the Real World, Negative Mindsets and her most popular: What's For Dinner!
Cooking show. Her resume includes over 20 radio interviews, various publications and
speaking presentations to Women's Conferences, employers, organizations and educational
programming workshops to the public. Barbara is a member of The Wellness Council of
America (WELCOA), the Society of Human Resource Management (SHRM), and the
International Society of Certified Employee Benefit Specialists (ISCEBS). She is also a board
member of SupportOne and is a volunteer for Habitat for Humanity.
